Mercedes-Benz shows steady growth in China with sales of 152,480 units through the first three quarters of 2012
Mercedes-Benz China sales of 17,660 (+12%) Mercedes-Benz, smart, AMG, and Maybach vehicles in September brings the total number of units delivered to 152,480 in the first nine months of 2012, a year-on-year growth of 9%.
The locally-produced C-Class and E-Class sedans gained the appreciation of 2,750 and 3,360 new customers respectively in September. Sales of the C-Class totaled 23,200 through Q3 this year, a growth rate of 30%, while the E-Class sold 30,200 units for a 16% growth for the year.
Since its China introduction in August, the new generation B-Class has received very positive feedback from Chinese customers, with sales picking up after the shortage of supply earlier this year.
The CLS sports sedan raced ahead with sales of 5,130 units year-to-date, a growth of 128% over last year.
With the regular release of new models, the smart brand’s unique style and its benefits for urban mobility attracted 1,324 new owners in September 2012, a growth rate of 20% month-on-month, to tally a total of 12,200 units for the first nine months at a growth rate of 47%.
